Ming Chiang, Amityville Rotarian and 7255 Polio Plus Foundation Chair, recently returned from Berlin where he was a panelist at The World Forum on the Future of Democracy, Tech, and Humankind. The worldwide event focused on current threats to worldwide democracies. Ming is one of the executive producers of the documentary, Invisible Nation, a film following Taiwan’s first female president, Tsai Ing-wen, and a portrait of Taiwan and the country’s struggle to preserve its hard-won democracy. The documentary received The Cinema for Peace Honorary Award for its inspiring performance that resonated with the themes of international understanding, freedom, and peace.

The Cinema for Peace Gala was hosted at the forum, celebrating the power of film to foster global unity and social change. Ming is one of the executive producers of the documentary, Invisible Nation, a film following Taiwan’s first female president, Tsai Ing-wen, and a portrait of Taiwan and the country’s struggle to preserve its hard-won democracy. The documentary received The Cinema for Peace Honorary Award for its inspiring performance that resonated with the themes of international understanding, freedom, and peace.
 
Among the dignitaries he spent time with were Hilary Clinton, Helen Mirren and Bob Geldof, political activist (i.e., LIVE-AID) and Ban-Ki-Moon, former Secretary General of the United Nations.
 
Promoting peace is one of Rotary International’s seven areas of focus. Rotary and its members are practitioners of peace dedicated to causes that build international understanding, improve lives, and create a better world. Ming is an outstanding practitioner of peace, and we are so proud of his continued and incredible efforts in promoting peace.
