Mary Ellen “Mel” Ellwood

Mel joined the Rotary Club of Riverhead in 2008 and immediately volunteered to run the clubs March Madness Pool thinking she was going to run a college basketball pool, nevertheless she proceeded with the club’s raffle raising the most money since the raffle’s inception. Mel served on the club’s board of directors, was the club president in 2013-2014, and AG from 2016-2019. She has served on several District Conference committees, was twice a member of the District Nominating committee, is an RLI graduate and facilitator and multiple Paul Harris recipient.
In 2005 Mel started selling real estate and quickly realized that all of her previous work experience had prepared her for a successful real estate career. She has earned her broker’s license; completed two designation courses: Seniors Real Estate Specialist (SRES) and Certified Buyer Representative (CBR) and is currently working on her Graduate, Realtor Institute (GRI). Mel currently works for Century 21 Albertson Realty on the North Fork where she manages a sales team of nine and lists & sells homes.
After graduating from the University of Dayton Mel began her Public Relations career working for the United State Football League then moved into PR Agency life working for a number of PR Firms in Manhattan as a PR executive and then as a Director of Human Resources.

Mel first started serving in her community at the age of 10 when she hosted Ronald McDonald Carnivals in her back yard to raise money for Muscular Dystrophy and the community service has continued since.
In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family (she has 21 nieces & nephews), singing at St. Rosalie’s Church in Hampton and hanging out with friends.
