Oscar "Jun" Patena, a dedicated member of the Queensborough West Rotary Club, has finally found a kidney donor after a five-year search! Despite enduring years of dialysis, Jun has remained active in both his club and community, embodying the true spirit of "Service Above Self." Jun is also the President-Elect for Queensborough West Rotary for 2025, and he and his wife, Dories, who is also a Rotarian, are incredibly grateful for the outpouring of support they’ve already received.

With a rare blood type, finding a donor was especially challenging, but hope arrived from the Philippines. Jun and Dories are preparing to leave in late October for the transplant, which is scheduled for November. The Queensborough West Rotary Club has raised $3,000 through a recent fundraiser, but much more is needed to cover the anticipated $40,000 in medical expenses. On top of that, Dories will need to leave her job temporarily to care for Jun after the surgery, adding to the financial burden.

We are reaching out for your support to help Jun during this critical time. A GoFundMe page has been set up to help cover the costs, and any contribution, big or small, will make a difference. Please consider donating and spreading the word to support Jun and his family as they navigate this journey together.
